Wow, 2021 feels like a lifetime ago, doesn’t it? But when I think back to that year, one thing that definitely stands out is the amazing selection of smartphone games I had at my fingertips, right there on my smartphone. The mobile gaming scene was seriously thriving, and I spent countless hours exploring different genres and titles. Let me share some of the games that really stood out to me!
Genshin Impact Continues to Impress
Okay, I know Genshin Impact came out in 2020, but 2021 was the year it truly cemented its place as a mobile gaming powerhouse. The updates kept rolling, the world kept expanding, and the characters just kept getting cooler! I was completely hooked on exploring Teyvat, completing quests, and building my dream team of heroes. The sheer scope of the game, and the fact that it was available on my phone with such impressive graphics, blew my mind. It was definitely a game I spent a lot of time on.
League of Legends: Wild Rift Takes the Stage
For those of us who love a bit of competitive MOBA action, League of Legends: Wild Rift was a seriously exciting release. Bringing the essence of League of Legends to mobile was no easy feat, but Riot Games nailed it. The controls felt intuitive, the matches were fast-paced and engaging, and the overall experience was surprisingly close to the PC version. I spent ages trying to climb the ranked ladder.
Among Us Still Going Strong
While released before 2021, I still included Among Us! I know Among Us had its big boom in 2020, but its popularity definitely carried over into the following year. The simple yet addictive gameplay of figuring out who the impostor was with friends (or strangers) never got old. It was a constant source of laughter, frustration (when I was wrongly accused!), and late-night gaming sessions. It was a great casual game to pick up and put down at any time.
Honorable Mentions
Of course, those are just a few of the highlights. There were so many other great mobile games that captured my attention in 2021. Call of Duty: Mobile kept delivering intense FPS action. Games like Harry Potter: Puzzles & Spells provided more casual and relaxing experiences. I tried a lot of different games in 2021.
Looking back, 2021 was a phenomenal year for smartphone games. The technology had advanced so much, allowing for console-quality experiences in the palm of my hand. I’m excited to see what the future holds for mobile gaming, and I can’t wait to discover the next big thing on my phone!
