This Father’s Day, consider enhancing dad’s vitality with the delightful citrus taste of organic baobab powder! This lesser-known fruit is a common ingredient in many African households, and its benefits are just beginning to be recognized. Baobab (pronounced Bay-Oh-Bab) is an exotic fruit that grows on impressive trees across Africa. Resembling a small coconut or a large mango, the baobab fruit features a tough outer shell, measuring approximately 7 inches in length and weighing around 3 pounds. The baobab powder is entirely organic and unprocessed, as it naturally dries within the fruit, eliminating the need for additional processing. To produce baobab powder, the pulp of the fruit is cleaned, crushed, and then sifted into a fine powder. PandaVita’s organic baobab powder is free from gluten, wheat, and dairy, making it an excellent choice for both vegetarians and vegans.
What are the health benefits of Organic baobab powder?
Baobab is a remarkable source of Vitamin C, boasting some of the highest concentrations found in fruit. National Geographic reports that baobab fruit has approximately six times the Vitamin C of oranges, along with double the calcium found in milk. Additionally, it is rich in various Vitamin B complexes, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, and a wealth of antioxidants. Furthermore, baobab is an outstanding source of fiber, providing around 5 grams of soluble fibre per serving, and it contains six times the potassium of bananas.
What does the Organic baobab powder taste like?
I found Baobab powder to have a tart citrus flavour to it.
What is Organic baobab powder used for?
Baobab powder is an excellent addition for those who enjoy smoothies or start their day with a yogourt bowl. This super-food is highly adaptable and can enhance a variety of recipes.
Initially, I was unfamiliar with Baobab fruit, which made me somewhat reluctant to try it. However, we incorporated it into a smoothie made with strawberries, oranges, and bananas, as well as in strawberry yogourt.
For the smoothie, I combined 4 cups of orange juice, 1 whole banana, 5 strawberries, and 3 teaspoons of Baobab Fruit Powder.
Alternatively, you can mix the powder directly with water or orange juice. A helpful tip is to first combine a small amount of orange juice with the powder to form a paste, then gradually add more juice while stirring to achieve a smooth consistency.
Organic baobab powder review
The powder was undetectable in any of the recipes I incorporated it into. When sampled alone, I found the flavor to be quite tart. The Baobab powder is packaged in a resealable, recyclable paper pouch that is environmentally friendly. It is available in organic options of 50g, 100g, and 250g bags. Since baobab is a relatively new super-food, you might find it challenging to locate baobab fruit powder in your local health food stores.
