In this article, we will explore the importance of omega 3 fatty acids for children and recommend some of the top supplements available on the market. Let’s dive in and find the perfect supplement to support your child’s development and overall health.

Omega 3- what the research says

Omega-3 essential fatty acids help keep cell membranes flexible and functional, supporting cardiovascular and cognitive health throughout life. DHA is especially important for the development of the eyes, brain, and nerves in children, and may support learning ability, cognition, and emotional well-being in children and adults. Studies have shown omega-3 to have modest benefits on symptoms of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), as well as studies have found that Omega 3 supplements help children improve their reading ability.

For optimum health, ensure your kids are consuming fish such as salmon, or tuna.  If your children don’t like tuna or salmon, try disguising it baked in pasta with tomato sauce. When they pass through periods of fussy eating, a fish oil supplement, such as Webber Naturals new Omega 3 or omega 7 can also provide essential fatty acids.

If you’re part of the Baby Boomer generation, you may have horrid memories of your mother making your gulp down a nasty-tasting spoonful of cod liver oil. Back in the 60’s this was the most popular form of fish oil supplement.

Today, you can get fish oil in liquid form that comes in a variety of different flavors. Webber Naturals new Omega 3 comes in three flavors – Lemon Cake, Grapefruit and Coconut Lime.  It’s created by using the freshest, highest quality fish oil in triglyceride form. Unlike unstable ethyl ester liquid forms of omega-3, liquid triglyceride fish oil has superior stability and is readily absorbed, helping to reduce the potential fishy aftertaste.

The omega-3 oil is blended with monk fruit (a low-calorie sweetener), and 100% natural, non-GMO flavours. Crystal Clean from the sea Omega-3 fish oils are certified by International Verified Omega-3 (IVO™) as well as International Fish Oil Standards (IFOS), ensuring the most pure, potent, and sustainably harvested omega-3 products available.

Crystal Clean from the sea Omega-3 liquid fish oil with vitamin D3 provides 750 mg of EPA, 500 mg of DHA, and 1000 IU of vitamin D3 in every teaspoon, making it easy to meet the whole family’s nutritional needs.

Our thoughts

Often times with liquid vitamins the flavor are quite harsh.  Crystal Clean from the Sea Omega-3 liquid fish oil is not the most pleasant tasting, but it certainly is tolerable. Both our taste testers aged three and eight didn’t mind it. Our eight year old taste tester particularly liked the grapefruit flavor, while our three year old didn’t have a preference.

In spite of the flavourings, your children may be one of these people that can’t tolerate the texture and after-taste of omega-3 liquid fish oil. In that case, we recommend adding it to a smoothie.

In conclusion, omega 3 fatty acids are essential nutrients for children’s growth and development. By choosing a high-quality omega 3 supplement for your kids, you can support their brain, heart, and eye health. Make sure to consult with your child’s pediatrician before starting any new supplement regimen. Give your child the gift of good health with the best omega 3 supplement today!
