Christmas is coming! Do you know what that means? It means, aimlessly wandering your local mall wondering what to buy for the child on your Christmas gift giving list. Though the market is flooded with toys for children, I myself have always been a fan of books. Educational Insights aims to make learning fun by combining reading, with imaginative play and at the same time inspiring creativity. Their new line “Once Upon a Craft” takes things back to traditional play.
Each box includes a storybook and two crafts that bring the story to life. The “Once Upon a Craft” line features eight different sets that carry classic fairy-tale stories, such as Rapunzel, The Princess and the Pea, The Gingerbread Man, The Ugly Duckling, as well as other popular stories. After kids finish their book, the set has two different crafts related to the story they can read.
Once Upon a Craft The Frog Prince
For example, Once Upon a Craft™ The Frog Prince comes with a DYI crown and stain glass window to color. Its 24-page book included illustrations that were just as sweet as the story.
The book is based on the classic tale of the Frog Prince. In the tale, a spoiled princess reluctantly befriends the Frog Prince. She meets him after dropping a gold ball into a pond. In this retelling of the classic story, the frog is turn into a handsome prince when the princess keeps her promise. This is a wonderful story that teaches children all about keeping promises.Which is an important thing to teach children while they are young.
A nice part about Once Upon a Craft is that, after my daughter listen to me read the book, she was able to complete the cute and simple crafts with independence. The foam crown does fit rather rather small, even on the largest adjustment.
The stain glass window was a nice addition to the book. She chose to put the stain glass picture on her bedroom window.
It was really fun to watch my daughter incorporate the book into her imaginative play. The frog prince has quickly become her favorite book. I think she has been read the story so many times that I can almost recite it without the book.
Once Upon a Craft is perfect for kids ages 4 and older and there are several sets to choose from. I already have my eye on a few more books for her for Christmas.
